Overnight Komodo Trip 2 Days 1 Night

The two-day, one-night Komodo trip is the most popular choice for travelers with limited time who still want to experience the full scope of what the national park offers. You’ll spend a night on a traditional boat anchored between islands, snorkel at multiple sites, track Komodo dragons, and catch a sunrise or sunset from one of the park’s elevated viewpoints.

It’s significantly richer than a day trip, with calmer seas in the early morning and access to sites that day boats rarely reach. Wake up surrounded by nothing but sea and volcanic islands — a perspective that no hotel room can replicate.

This is a small-group experience with a maximum of 12 guests, ensuring a personal and unhurried pace throughout the two days.

Day 1 Padar Island — Panoramic Viewpoint Padar Island is the most iconic viewpoint in all of Komodo National Park. The hike to the summit ridge takes 30–45 minutes over steep volcanic terrain, but the reward is one of the most dramatic panoramas in Indonesia — three bays of different colors (turquoise, black, and green) framed by sharp ridgelines falling straight into the sea. The landscape is unlike anything else in Southeast Asia. Pink Beach — Snorkeling & Shoreline Pink Beach (Pantai Merah) is one of only seven pink-sand beaches on earth, its distinctive color created by crushed red coral mixed into the white sand. The reef here is shallow and healthy, starting just a few meters from the water's edge. Sea turtles graze on seagrass, parrotfish crunch coral, and clownfish dart between anemones. After snorkeling, there is free time to walk the shore or simply lie on one of the most beautiful beaches in Indonesia. Manta Point — Swimming with Manta Rays Manta Point sits at the convergence of two tidal currents that carry vast quantities of plankton — the primary food source of oceanic manta rays. These enormous, graceful animals (wingspan up to 5 meters) gather here in numbers rarely seen elsewhere. You enter the water alongside them for a free-swimming encounter with no cages or barriers. It is one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in all of Southeast Asia. Overnight on the Boat The phinisi anchors in a sheltered bay as the evening sky turns orange and pink. Dinner is cooked fresh on board — grilled fish, steamed rice, local vegetables, and sliced tropical fruit. The night at sea, anchored between islands with no artificial light for miles, is an experience in itself. The sound of gentle waves, the absence of traffic and noise, and a sky full of stars make this overnight the centerpiece of the whole trip. Day 2 Batu Bolong — World-Class Reef Snorkeling Batu Bolong is consistently rated among the top ten dive and snorkel sites in the world. A single exposed rock surrounded by an underwater wall of coral, with current-swept water that draws dense aggregations of fish — schools of jackfish so thick they block the light, cruising barracuda, and reef sharks patrolling the drop-off. The early morning water is typically calm, visibility exceptional, and the site empty of other boats. Rinca or Komodo Island — Komodo Dragon Trek The dragon trek is the cultural and natural centerpiece of the national park. Your licensed ranger guides you through the island's dry savanna and monsoon forest, where Komodo dragons live entirely on their own terms — hunting deer and buffalo, patrolling their territories, and basking in the morning sun. Rinca Island has one of the highest dragon densities in the park. Komodo Island is larger, with more varied terrain and scenery. Your guide selects the best site on the day. Return to Labuan Bajo Lunch is served as the boat cruises back through the island chain. The return journey follows the same turquoise-and-volcanic landscape you woke up to — but now it feels familiar, like a place you know. You arrive back at Labuan Bajo harbor in the mid-afternoon, with two full days of the national park's highlights behind you.
